Privacy Policy

LiveStop (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the LiveStop mobile application (the “App”). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information We Collect

Location Data

With your permission, the App uses your device's approximate location (within approximately 100 metres) to identify nearby stops and sort results by proximity. Location coordinates are sent to our servers only when you open the Nearby or Maps features to retrieve relevant stops — they are not stored on our servers after the request completes and are never used for tracking or profiling. You may revoke location access at any time in your device settings; the App will continue to function but will not automatically surface nearby stops.

Device Identifier

A random identifier is generated when you first install the App and is sent with every request to our servers. This identifier is used solely for rate-limiting (preventing automated misuse) and is not linked to your identity. It is reset if you reinstall the App.

Parking Reminder Preferences

If you set up a park-and-ride availability reminder, the following information is sent to our servers to deliver your alerts: the car park facility identifier, your preferred alert threshold and schedule, and a push notification token issued by Apple. This data is stored only as long as the reminder is active and is deleted when you remove the reminder or uninstall the App.

Information You Provide

If you contact us by email, we will retain your email address and message content solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the App's core features, including nearby stop discovery and live arrival times.
  • To deliver park-and-ride availability alerts you have configured.
  • To prevent automated misuse of our service via rate-limiting.
  • To respond to support requests and feedback.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.

3. Third-Party Services

The App displays transit data sourced from Transport for NSW, Public Transport Victoria, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport South Australia, and Translink Queensland. These authorities operate under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the accuracy or completeness of their data.

The free version of the App includes advertising provided by Google Mobile Ads (AdMob). This service may collect anonymised device and usage signals to serve contextual ads, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. The App does not request permission to use your Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not share location data with the ad network. You can limit ad personalisation through your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising on iOS).

4. Data Storage and Security

Your favourites, Quick Glance groups, and app preferences are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. If you create park-and-ride reminders, the associated preferences and push notification token are stored on our servers in Australia. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any information we hold.

5. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to request corrections. This primarily applies to park-and-ride reminder preferences and any email correspondence. To make a request, contact us at .

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated within the App or on this page. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
