User Guide

Everything you need to get the most out of LiveStop.

Getting Started

Download LiveStop from the App Store and open it. No account or sign-up is required — the app works immediately. On first launch you will be prompted to allow location access, which lets LiveStop automatically surface stops near you.

  1. Download LiveStop from the App Store.
  2. Open the app. Allow location access when prompted for the best experience.
  3. LiveStop will show nearby stops and their next departures automatically.

Saving Favourites

Favourites let you pin the stops and services you use every day so they appear at the top of your home screen for instant access.

  1. Find the stop you want to save using the search or map view.
  2. Tap the stop to open its departure board.
  3. Tap the star icon next to the service you want to favourite.
  4. Your favourited stops appear on the home screen every time you open LiveStop.

You can reorder favourites by pressing and holding a stop card on the home screen, then dragging it to the position you prefer.

Checking Live Arrivals

Arrival times in LiveStop are sourced directly from each state's public transport authority and updated in real time. A green badge indicates the service is on time or early; an orange badge indicates a delay.

  • Green badge — On time or early.
  • Orange badge — Running late. The displayed time reflects the estimated actual arrival.
  • Grey badge — Scheduled time (real-time data not available for this service).

Tap any departure to see full route details including all upcoming stops and the vehicle's current position.

Nearby Stops

The Nearby tab shows a map and list of stops closest to your current location, so you can quickly find the nearest departure without searching.

  1. Tap the Nearby tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Your location is shown as a blue dot, with nearby stops listed below sorted by distance.
  3. Tap a stop to see its next departures.

Maps Explorer

The Maps tab is a full-screen map for exploring stops and tracking vehicles live as they move along their route.

  1. Tap the Maps tab at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Pan and zoom to explore stops in any area, shown as pins.
  3. Tap a stop pin to see its next departures.
  4. Tap a departure to see the vehicle moving live on the map.

Search lives inside the Favourites tab, so you can find and save any stop or route by name, number, or suburb.

  1. Open the Favourites tab and tap the search bar.
  2. Type a stop name, route number, or suburb (e.g. “Central Station”, “370”, “Newtown”).
  3. Tap a result to open that stop's departure board.

Supported Regions

LiveStop currently supports the following Australian transit networks:

  • New South Wales — Transport for NSW (trains, buses, ferries, light rail)
  • Victoria — Public Transport Victoria (trains, trams, buses)
  • South Australia — Adelaide Metro (trains, trams, buses)
  • Queensland (SEQ) — Translink (trains, buses, ferries)

Coverage is limited to the metropolitan networks listed above. Regional and rural services may not be available in all areas.

Park & Ride

LiveStop shows real-time car park bay availability at park-and-ride facilities, so you can check before you leave home whether bays are available.

  1. Open the stop for a station that has a park-and-ride facility.
  2. A parking card appears below the departure board showing current bay availability.
  3. Availability is updated live and reflects the occupancy reported by the car park.

Park & Ride availability is currently supported at park-and-ride facilities across New South Wales. Not all stops will show a parking card, only those with a connected car park.
